Hey there, it's Monday already, where did the weekend go? When I started this blog a month or so ago, I intended it to be all about makes and bakes...but as time goes on I think I would like to adapt its purpose, and let it become more of a narrative of my life with my family and friends all included...So with that in mind, let's begin the new chapter...
Wow! What a weekend we've had...
A trip to Brighton to visit Family, Baking up a storm on Sunday AND two new cookbooks in one day!!!
The trip to Brighton was great, just what we needed, to escape London and get some fresh sea air! The two smallish people and their two cousins had a great time on the beach...and my camera and I had a little play too!!
The four smallish people at the water's edge...
I just loved these shells washed up with seaweed...
The saturate button is one of my faves right now...
She was concentrating so hard...
...and happened to be wearing a bright red coat...
...which lends itself to the focal black and white effect beautifully!
It's that saturated look again...I do like it!!
And then I found the graduated tint...
Despite appearances, he wasn't bored! Just thoughtful...
No red coat, but blue jeans...subtle colouring...
Sunday was a busy day...full of checking homework, sorting out school uniforms, polishing school shoes, visits from friends, making roast dinner and baking for the week of lunch boxes ahead...including bread rolls this week! Which I have to admit I use the bread machine to make my dough for!!
It was a gorgeous afternoon...
But even with the bread machine recipes, I can't help but 'tweak'!!! I add a little wholemeal bread flour to the strong white, and about 3 Tbsp ground flax seeds...for a bit of added fibre!! Then after they have had time to prove, I egg wash mine...the smallish people don't like anaemic looking rolls!!!
I also did a bit of baking...but that's in the next post...Well that was my weekend...hope you all had good ones!
