Midweek Veggie Night...
...Hi guys, it's midweek (well it was when I made this meal earlier in the week!!!)...which means meat-free meal time...As I said a while ago on here, we try to eat meat-free at least once a week, but more often than not twice...I seem to recall a while ago the push for flexitarianism...where you mainly eat a veggie diet, but are pretty cool about the odd bit of meat...well we are kind of midway between that and being omnivores...in that we do like red meat (in moderation of course!!), white meat and fish...but we also eat a hell of a lot of veggies...So what are we trying to do by taking this approach to eating??? Trying to eat a balanced diet I would say, with the odd treat thrown in for good measure...Ooops...rant over...to the food...

Quick & Easy Tonight...
...I'm all for slow food, in fact I just love slow braised meats in rich sauces that you can pop in the oven for a couple of hours and pretty much forget about...but there is also a time for fast, simple, speedy suppers...you know, the kind that can go from raw ingredients to delicious platefuls in about 30-40 minutes...
I've got my own domain...
...you will still find me if you search for Sew Appetising, but I now live at www.sewappetising.com How exciting!!! Thanks to hubby for the surprise gift yesterday!!!

'Nutty' Nutella Melting Moments...
...I had an unexpected bit of time to kill earlier, and remembered this recipe I had copied down from a friend's copy of Fay Ripley's 'What's For Dinner?'...this recipe had literally jumped off the pages, hurled itself at me, squared up to me and faced me down...daring me to go home and make some...that was last week...and after a quick trip to the shops to stock up on ingredients, I've finally had the time to make them...so here I am ready to share the gorgeous recipe that is...

Cottage Pie...
...I know, I know...not a new or even radical recipe, but a much loved, sometimes much maligned recipe...some say it's boring, but here in our house, we say it's fab!! Cottage Pie reminds me of my childhood...It is the meal I am most likely to cook after a week or weekend of excess...it is one of those unassuming, unpretentious, comfort food recipes...It is one of those recipes that every family knows and has their version of...and this is mine...via my Mum of course!!!

Kids in the Kitchen...part 2...
When asked why he needed/wanted them he replied..."So I can look through your '500 Cookies' book and see which ones I want to help make." Well what was I supposed to say to that? He even colour coded them...green for the ones to make first!!
Having my cake and...
...not eating it!!! But baking it to meet the challenge set by Have the Cake...I have been invited to and joined the monthly baking challenge...and this month's challenge is Cake Pops...something I've always fancied having a go at, but never quite got around to...maybe due to the fact that as soon as I bake a cake it disappears before I can even think about deconstructing and turning into Cake Pops...so am off to research methods and recipes before I have a go myself...but keep watching...and if you've any ideas or recipes, leave a comment or link for me...xx
'Dinner In' with Friends...
...a big thanks to Jules and family for being the hosts with the most...
...last night was a great night...the 4 of us went to friends for 'dinner in'...it's a great way to get together, no restaurant to book, no children to keep amused (they do it themselves when doing 'dinner in'), and a nice relaxed atmosphere...But best of all, we share the cooking!! The hosts do mains, the guests the puds...and as we were the guests, I got to make the puds...which last night were...
