Sweet Pea Seed Sowing...

...as I said yesterday in my post, I received my free seeds from Thompson Morgan in order to support the British Bloggers in Support of British Flowers Campaign...so today I decided to get a move on and plant some of the seeds...

I had 2 packets of Sweet Peas and a packet of Cosmos sent to me...but after reading that they could be sown straight into the ground I decided not too, as my soil is 1) Very clay...and 2) totally waterlogged at the moment due to all the rain we've been getting...so I decided indoor germination was the way forwards...now, many gardeners like to soak their Sweet Pea Seeds as the shell can be pretty hard, and the soaking helps soften it which in turn may help germination...so I thought I would give it a go myself...

...I set my seeds a-soaking before I went to bed so that they would be ready to sow the next day...
...but the sowing had to come into the kitchen, as the rain decided to start up again as soon as I set foot out of the back door!!! I had a spare seed tray in the mini greenhouse, so thought it would do nicely for them...
...One seed per cell, and 20 of each variety...we shall now watch and wait, and wait some more...the cosmos can wait a while, as they can be sown until May...so hopefully straight in the soil for them...It will be so lovely to have flowers in the garden that I can cut and use in the house...at the supermarket this morning there were 4 measly bunches of British grown flowers...2 bunches of Tulips and 2 pretty beaten up bunches of Alstromeria...not really a good showing considering how many British Flower companies there are actually out there...
