The Bag...Part 3...

...the 'tweaking' begins...

As half-term is over, and I have a bit of time to myself again, I picked up The Bag and got on with a bit more of it. The 'Patch' book instructions tell me to start sewing it all together, but I don't think it is big enough for me, so I have decided to 'tweak' it and add some extra side, top and bottom panels to it before I line it and finish it off.

Whilst away in Wales last week, I found a tiny little quilting and knitting shop in Mumbles, near Swansea...it was called Red House Quilting. It was from there that I bought some fabric to use as side panels on The Bag.
I chose a delicate pink and white dragonfly print called 'Meadow Friends' by Deb Strain for Moda, for the Cath Kidston Dresden Plate, and another moda fabric called 'puzzle pieces, swirl' in turquoise for the M is for Make Dresden Plate
First, I measured, cut and pinned the fabric to the front panels (right side to right side). Then I tacked the panels in place before machine stitching them in place.

Once sewn in place, I opened them up before pressing the seams open. Now for the choice of fabric for a top and bottom panel for each side...
...I have these fabrics that I got from from my sister-in-law's site...M is for Make...quite a while ago now, so thought it was time to use them!!! They were originally going to be cushions for my daughter's room, but think they look nice for The Bag. What do you think?? Looking at the picture...I am now thinking, maybe the two bag panels would be better suited for a pair of cushions?!? Now what do I do?...

Keep visiting the blog to see what I decide!

  2. Yes, I think so too, and so does a certain 10 year old girl!!! In fact she wants 2 cushions that can be thrown on her floor no doubt!! But it sounds like a plan to me!! Will be trying to finish them before the weekend!
